The latest design to emerge from the stable of superzoom experts Tamron, the AF 18-270mm f/3.5-6.3 Di II VC LD Aspherical (IF) MACRO was announced in July 2008. The length of the zoom range is almost as remarkable as that of the lens's name itself, with the 15x ratio covering everything from a 28mm equivalent wideangle to a 420mm equivalent telephoto. This is unprecedented in terms of SLR optics, and is clearly aimed at users upgrading from superzoom digicams who require a similar focal length range without the inconvenience of changing lenses.
It also makes a compelling option as an all-in-one travel/'walkabout' solution. A minimum focus distance of just 0.5m throughout the zoom range, and the incorporation of optical image stabilization (or 'Vibration Compensation' as Tamron call it) enhance the lens's flexibility still further. It is available only in mounts for Canon and Nikon DSLRs; presumably Pentax and Sony owners will continue to be served by Tamron's existing 18-250mm F3.5-6.3, with image stabilization provided by the camera body.
Making a lens with such an extraordinary range is always gong to require some pretty clever engineering, and Tamron's design team have clearly been burning the midnight oil on this one. The optical formula features no fewer than 18 elements in 13 groups, including three aspherical elements and two Low Dispersion (LD) glass elements for the control of aberrations. A 'double-trombone' mechanical design allows the lens almost to double in length between 18mm and 270mm, whilst keeping the overall size and weight very similar to competing 18-200mm lenses.
The 18-270mm F3.5-6.3 VC will compete head-to-head in the 'stabilized superzoom' market with the Canon EF-S 18-200mm F3.5-5.6 IS, Nikon 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6G IF-ED AF-S VR DX, and Sigma 18-200mm F3.5-6.3 DC OS, but offering the benefit of substantially extended telephoto range. Tamron hails it as 'The Ultimate All-In-One Zoom: Longest, Steadiest Lens On Earth', and while it seems likely that this phrase may have lost something in translation, it does give a good impression the lens's appeal. But can such a general-purpose optic actually be any good?

Headline features

  • 27-405mm equivalent focal length range; F3.5-6.3 maximum aperture
  • Vibration Compensation (VC) optical image stabilisation (up to 4 stops)
  • Available for Canon EF mount and Nikon F mount (APS-C/DX format DSLRs only)

Angle of view

The pictures below illustrate the (frankly extraordinary) focal length range from wide to telephoto (on Nikon DX format, 1.5x).

Almost exactly two years after the D80 was announced comes its replacement, the rather predictably named D90. The D80 has been one of Nikon's quiet successes, and even today, despite being positively Methuselah-like in digital camera terms it continues to sell and often makes its way into our top 10 most clicked on cameras. Because it looks so similar to the D80 the D90 appears at first glance to be one of those rather subdued incremental upgrades, but dig a little deeper and you'll find there's plenty to keep Nikon fans happy.

First and foremost there's a new CMOS sensor, which Nikon claim produces D300 quality output at up to ISO 6400 and - one of several features to 'trickle down' from higher models - the same highly acclaimed 3.0-inch VGA screen as the D3/D300. Naturally it has Live View with contrast-detect AF and it would have been surprising had it not sported some form of dust removal system. More surprising is the inclusion of the world's first DSLR movie mode (720p HDTV quality, no less) and HDMI output, though as we'll see later it does come with some limitations. A lot of the core photographic spec is the same as or very similar to the D80, though there is a new shutter and an implementation of the 3D tracking AF seen on the D3/D300.
And it's not just the high end models that have lent features and technology to the D90; the user interface has been given the same user-friendly treatment as the D60, as have the retouching options. As it was explained to us the D90 is intended to appeal to the broadest audience of any Nikon SLR, from first-time 'step up' customers moving from a compact to serious amateurs wanting comprehensive photographic control without the cost and weight of a D300. Whether the D90 is as capable as its feature set suggests, we'll see as the review unfolds.

Nikon D90 Key Features

  • 12.9 megapixel DX-format CMOS sensor (effective pixels: 12.3 million)
  • 3.0-inch 920,000 pixel (VGA x 3 colors) TFT-LCD (same as D3 and D300)
  • Live View with contrast-detect AF, face detection
  • Image sensor cleaning (sensor shake)
  • Illuminated focus points
  • Movie capture at up to 1280 x 720 (720p) 24 fps with mono sound
  • IS0 200-3200 range (100-6400 expanded)
  • 4.5 frames per second continuous shooting (buffer: 7 RAW, 25 JPEG fine, 100 JPEG Normal)
  • Expeed image processing engine
  • 3D tracking AF (11 point)
  • Short startup time, viewfinder blackout and shutter lag
  • Slightly improved viewfinder (96% frame coverage)
  • Extensive in-camera retouching including raw development and straightening
  • Improved user interface
  • New optional compact GPS unit (fits on hot shoe)
  • Same battery and vertical grip as D80
  • Vignetting control in-camera
  • 72 thumbnail and calendar view in playback

What is Aperture? And if you understand the shutter speed priority shooting technique? How to setting the aperture to produce a good image. Here I will explain in detail about the gap.

Diaphragm aperture or lens opening that controls the amount of light entering. When we press the shutter button, the shutter will open hole, so the sensor can take the object to be retrieved. Openings are arranged to influence the size of the skylight. A larger hole, so that more light coming in, so the logic.

Aperture size, denoted by the letter "f / number", the greater the number f, means opening the lens has narrowed.Conversely, the smaller its f number, the greater the lens open.

For example, exposure f / 2.8 lets light into more than f/22.

Aperture is one determinant of image sharpness.

Here is an example of taking pictures:

narrow depth of field becomes the center of attention and blurred background makes the picture seem a natural and beautiful.

Photographed at night sometimes difficult, but if we try to shutter the shutter speed or low at night will get great results.
But before photographing equipment that must be taken is the "tripod".

Tripod is a brace-shaped camera-three feet, which can lengthen and shorten as you wish. This tool is obligatory if it is to be taken at night, so as not to blur the picture when we take pictures at night.

When will you take a picture SS:
  • put a tripod on solid position or not rocking.
  • setting the camera with:
  1. Shutter 30 "
  2. Diaphragm F22
  3. Iso 200
the results obtained will be as follows:

What is a DSLR? I actually just called the SLR (Single Lense Reflect), get an extra "D" because the current version of the SLR has digital. SLR cameras are divided into two, namely analog and digital. Analogue SLR is the camera that still uses film roll for storage, while the digital memnggunakan MMC (Micro Memory Card)

This camera allows the photographer to be able to see objects through the camera and get the same results as the diliat the view finder. This is different to non-SLR cameras, which are seen in pandanagn view finder is different from the results obtained by the film.

SLR cameras use a mirror prisms pentagons (pentaprism) is placed above the optical path through the lens to the film lempenan. The light coming in and then reflected upward by mirror reflection of the mirror a
nd prism.

This prism mirror then reflects light several times until about the viewfinder. When the butt
on is released, the glass will pave the way for the light so that light can be of direct digital sensor or film

The process of working mechanism of this DSLR you can see below:

  • - Here symbolized by the red line
  • - Illustrated entered into the lens, then reflected to the prism lens.
Shutter or shutter function here to open the light path to the sensor so that the image can be recorded.

sensor is a replacement of analog film in the camera, useful field of record when we take pictures:
  • CCD (Charge-Coupled Device)
  • CMOS (Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor)
DSLR camera new entrys use sensors measuring 40-100% of the size of 35mm film SLR cameras analog.
Size from 24x16mm to 36x24mm. The bigger the sensor, the greater the ability of the grasp image. Result images can also be influenced by the type of lens ..
